Breville has recently launched its new Smart Grinder Pro, a powerful coffee grinder that can grind beans at high speeds. The question is, does it really live up to its name?
There are two types of coffee makers: manual and automatic. Manual coffee machines require you to manually pour water into the machine before grinding the beans. Automatic coffee makers come with a built-in grinder and usually have a timer function.
Coffee lovers often prefer using a manual coffee maker because they want to control the amount of time their coffee takes to brew. On the other hand, automatic coffee makers allow you to enjoy freshly brewed coffee without having to wait for it to finish brewing.

Preprogrammed setting
Grinders are designed to grind coffee beans into powder. These machines are usually made out of metal, plastic, or wood. Some models come with a built-in grinder, while others have an attachment to attach to a kitchen countertop. Grinding coffee beans requires a lot of force, so many models come equipped with a motor to provide extra power. Most models also come with a timer, allowing you to program when you want to start grinding. Intelligent settings help your grinder reach its full potential. For example, if you’re making espresso, you may need to adjust the size of the portafilter to get the best extraction.

Breville Smart Grinder Pro Review The BCGBSSXL Burr Coffee Grinder
Grinders are an essential kitchen tool for any serious cook. Whether you’re making coffee, grinding spices, or even just crushing ice cubes, a quality grinder will help you get the job done quickly and efficiently. But what exactly is a grinder? And why should you care about the difference between them? Let’s dive into the basics!
Keep reading to see if the Breville Smart Grinder is right for you! We’ll go through all its features, what it does well, and what we didn’t like about it. We’ll also tell you whether or not it’s worth buying.
The Breville Smart Grinder Pro Review
Breville wanted to modernize home coffee making by creating an effective, convenient, and user-friendly machine. Their goal was to create a machine that could grind beans effectively, brew coffee quickly, and provide a great-tasting cup. Their design incorporates many of the same features found in commercial espresso machines, including programmable auto shutoff, a temperature-controlled water tank, and a removable bean hopper.
This grinder is a great addition to any kitchen. It comes with a large capacity and a high-speed motor. It also includes an easy-to-use interface. The grinder is made out of stainless steel and plastic, making it durable and long-lasting. It also comes with a lifetime warranty.
Design –
Breville doesn’t just make great espresso machines, they also make great coffee makers. This one comes with a built-in burr grinder, making it perfect for those who like to grind their own coffee beans. The motor is rated at 40 watts, driving the burrs at 450 pm. We think this is a bit loud, but if you’re looking for a quiet grinder, then this might not be the right option for you.
This machine comes with two different size portafilters, one for 50-54 mm and the other for 58 mm. These are both removable and locked into place using magnets. There is also a magnetic base plate where any coffee dust could fall if you were grinding directly onto it.
. Hoppers: We like hoppers because they keep your coffee fresh longer. You can store them at room temperature, and you don’t need to worry about cleaning them out every time you brew. If you buy a burr grinder, you should get a hopper.
This feature allows you to easily change your coffee bean type or grind size without removing the grinder. Just pop out the hopper and replace it with another one. You can even add a different amount of beans to the hopper before grinding. The plastic grounds bin sits beneath the grinder and has an airtight lid for storing grounds after brewing. Graduated markings on the side show you how many cups’ worths of grinds are left inside.
The Smart Grinder Pro is designed to fit seamlessly into any kitchen. Its stainless steel body means it won’t clash with your existing appliances, while its compact design means it won’t take up too much room. It comes with an easy-to-use touch screen interface, making it simple to program the grinder to grind different amounts of beans, depending on what you’re drinking at the time. It also features a built-in tamper to keep the grounds inside the hopper and a removable bean container for easy cleaning.
It is a big machine, but it doesn’t need a lot of room. At just 7.6 pounds, it is light enough to carry around. You won’t have any trouble moving it around either. It will fit easily into your kitchen cabinet. Cleaning it is simple. Just remove the top burr and clean out the hopper.
You should clean your grinder once a month. If you can’t afford to buy a new one, you can also use a toothbrush.
Durability –
The Smart Grinder Pro is made out of plastic, which isn’t usually a durable material. But Breville has designed this grinder to withstand the rigors of daily use. It also has a lot of electronic components inside, which means there’s a chance something will go wrong at any time. Breville does offer a warranty though, so if anything goes wrong, you’ll get your money back.
Ease Of Use –
The Smart Grind Pro is a great grinder for those looking for an easy-to-use, high-quality grinder. You get all the benefits of a manual grinder with the convenience of digital controls. The Smart Grind Pro also offers you the ability to adjust your settings like grind size, speed, and time.
However, there is an upside to this. You can create your own unique grind settings. If you like a coarse grind, then you can adjust the grind setting accordingly. Or if you prefer a fine grind, you can change the grind setting to match your preference. For example, I personally enjoy a medium grind. So I can easily adjust my grind settings to suit my preferences.
Grind settings are selected using the dial on the front of the unit. A small LED display shows the current grind time in seconds. Pressing the start button will begin grinding. The smarts don’t stop there either. The grinder automatically adjusts its grind speed according to the type of coffee you select. If you choose espresso, the grinder will adjust to a slower speed. If you choose regular, the grinder will increase its speed. You can also manually adjust the grind speed using the dial under the display.
Dosing Intelligence: Here’s how Breville describes this feature: 1. Precise digital timing allows you to adjust and set grind times in 0.2 seconds increments, giving you total control and an accurate dose every time. 2. Program settings for espresso, percolator, filter, plunger. 3. Adjustable cup size 4. Calculates and sets grind times according to your desired dosage. 5. Can be adjusted to produce any amount of coffee. 6. Easy to clean and maintain. 7. Includes a grinder attachment. 8. Includes a milk frother attachment. 9. Includes a steam wand. 10. Includes a carafe. 11. Includes a cleaning brush. 12. Includes a tamper. 13. Includes a timer. 14. Includes a stainless steel basket. 15. Includes a removable drip tray. 16. Includes a water tank. 17. Includes a cleaning kit. 18. Includes a warranty. 19. Made in Italy.
There’s an automatic grind button built into the Body of the grinder, so if you want to control your dose manually, just push the portafilter into the body until you hear a click, and the machine will start automatically grinding. Once the portafilter is out, the machine stops.
Start/pause button: The Start/Pause button is also great when you need to stop brewing while waiting for water to boil. You can press the button again to resume after the water comes back to temperature.
Grinding Capability Settings Range Consistency –
The Breville Smart Grinder Pro offers 60 different grind settings, but we found them to be less useful than expected. We were hoping for finer grind sizes, and the ability to adjust the coarseness of the grind. The 60 settings aren’t really indicative of what the grinder can actually achieve.
This Brevillette Burr Grinder might be limited in its grinding range, but it offers impeccable consistency and an unmatched level of control. And that’s important because according to the pros at Perfect Daily Grind (1), The coffee grinds are consistent in size no matter what settings you choose. And if you feel like you need a slightly finer or coarser grind without having to go up or down a full step, you get 10 steps adjustments built into the removable top grinder. This gives the Brevillette Burr Grinders possible grind settings!
If you want to perfect your coffee brewing technique, you’ll have nothing to complain about! Some reviews might mention that Smart Grinder Pro can’t grind fine enough for the French press. If you run into this issue, we’d recommend setting your top burrs to their finest and grind at setting # 60.
Value For Money –
The Smart Grinder Pro is an electric coffee grinder that will give you the best results out of any other grinder at half the cost. Its unique design allows you to choose from five different grind settings, while still maintaining the same consistency and quality every time. You can also adjust the amount of water added to your coffee grounds, allowing you to create the perfect cup of espresso.
It’s hard to find a machine built with so many features for consumer use at such an affordable price. But if the other goodies aren’t enough for you, the price may be.
